Grasslands

This is a proof of concept short film for our upcoming feature documentary, Grasslands, which is currently in pre-production. This is the story of Australia's vibrant and resilient native grasslands, and the future of food, farming, culture and climate.

What is the story of Australia’s land? What is the native grain of Australia? Why are native grasslands important? Presented by First Nations people on Country, Grasslands tells the stories that kept us close to the land, that told us about a spiritual and physical negotiation between the wild world and the domesticated grasses that fed and maintained us. Structured as a visual journey across Australia in the style of a detective story, the film blends traditional documentary with conceptual animation sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how native grasslands could reimagine Australia for future generations. The story highlights how Australia's native grasslands hold the key to the future of Indigenous land management, agriculture, food production, bushfire prevention, water security, biodiversity and healthy Country.

The Dreaming Project

Time. Place. Space.

Drawing inspiration from ceremony and cultural connection, The Dreaming Project celebrates multiple elements of Aboriginal dreamtime. A rich movement of storytelling led by First Nations creatives, The Dreaming Project brings together circus performance, projection art, lighting, dance and traditional practices. Each show commences at sunset. As darkness descends, we begin with fire and gradually introduce new elements.

Through sound, light and performance – every detail is carefully selected, endeavouring to honour ancestry and represent the beginning of Country. By illuminating and activating different spaces, Dylan Singh’s vision and creativity will breathe life into the story with a sequence of performances informed by ancestry and connection to Country. As you go through a cycle of interconnected and compounding stories, The Dreaming Project is a promenade performance that will transport you to otherworldly places for an unforgettable and enriching experience.
